We are steeped in tradition and the holiday season has many traditions that go with it.
Each family is different.
In our family one of the traditions that I treasure most is something that has cost hardly anything but has brought valued time together as a family.
Beginning December 1st, I pull out the basket of holiday books. I have wrapped 25 of them individually. These are books that were collected over the years or picked up here and there for little money.
Each day one of my kids would get to open one of the books at bedtime.
Then, as a family, we would sit down and read the book.
When my kids got to be 9 or 10 I thought they were too old for this. They, however, had a different opinion. When I was too busy to wrap the books myself my daughter decided to wrap the books herself. I then realized that this tradition was too important to her to let go of.
